NOTICE TO ALL RYO CIGARETTE TOBACCO CUSTOMERS:
Since the PACT act was signed into law by President Obama, many people who purchase RYO tobacco online or via mail-order will be affected.
What is the PACT Act?
The Prevent all Cigarette Trafficking Act is a piece of legislation designed to "prevent tobacco smuggling, [and] to ensure the collection of all tobacco taxes." It accomplished its goals with these new laws:
-- Retailers that sell RYO cigarette tobacco over the Internet must collect state cigarette taxes and pay those taxes to the states where the customer resides;
-- Internet retailers must verify the age of the individual purchasing RYO cigarette tobacco to prevent underage youth from buying these products; and
-- The U.S. Postal Service is prohibited from delivering RYO cigarette tobacco through the U.S. Mail to consumers.
What does this mean to you?
If you used to purchase your RYO cigarette or chewing tobacco from us, we may not be able to continue to sell to you. We have worked hard to become compliant with these new regulations with each state, but not every state will allow us to continue shipping RYO cigarette or chewing tobacco into their state. If we can ship RYO cigarette or chewing tobacco to you, we need to ship the package UPS Adult Signature Required. Therefore, we now need to charge a $5 processing fee per order to cover all of the additional expenses. Also, when you place an order for RYO cigarette or chewing tobacco, you need to select the ship-to-state from the list next to the item you're ordering to pay the appropriate state tobacco tax. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience any of these new laws and regulations may cause you.
